About
I’m a 28 year old husband, father of two and permanent student technology. I live in the economically thriving state of Michigan. I’m a strong open source advocate and believe software commoditization in the form of restrictive licenses limit both the users and developers of software. I believe software is a form of free speech and knowledge and should be treated as such. My passion is Web Development ( photography, graphic design, layout, planning, programming, database, etc ).
I’ve been involved in technology for over 10 years and in the industry for 7. I’m mostly self-taught since I’ve come to believe the commercialization of knowledge-for-profit, such as colleges, is unethical. Why should I put myself into debt trying to pay to learn when I can get paid to learn in the real world and for free on the Internet.
I started working at a dot com in 1999 as a content writer, concentrating on internet technology and graphic design tutorials. I also contributed to a pay-per-click project which empowered customers to manage their marketing campaigns. After that, I went on to do web development and software development at a small web development shop and shortly thereafter opened my own On-site Computer Repair and Web/Software Development business.
Currently I’m a full-time employee at Intermediate School District in Michigan helping them create a number of web-apps to assist schools achieve in this stringent new world of standards-based education.
